Last Sunday marked the official handing over ceremony of the Australian School of Reflexology and Relaxation. The college now forms part of the Perfect Harmony Group.
On a physical level, the business hand over was completed on the 1st of July. The spirit of the college has now also been handed over, in a light ceremony.
The light of the ASRR embodies the spiritual knowledge, wisdom, integrity, humour and love that has been built up by the vast family of all those who have passed through the ASRR. We also recognised Dee and Carol for the hundreds of people they have inspired, and shared their knowledge and passion for reflexology.
As part of the growth of the college we will now be offering weekend, and mid week certified courses in reflexology. We will continue to offer post graduate training and special interest seminars and workshops. Yoga and meditation classes will be offered mid week.
Student clinic will be held each Thursday from 9am-5pm at Station St Box Hill. Bookings invited. For more information on courses, workshop and Student clinic, visit our website www.asrr.com.au or call Trish on 03 9526 8539.

Feet reading- Window to the Soul
The soles of the feet reflect the physical and the emotional state of the body. By looking at the characteristics of the feet, we gain an insight as to how that person perceives themselves from an emotional perspective. We can identify areas that may be causing stress in their life, thereby identifying the root cause of dis-ease.
.jpg)
The first thing I noticed when looking at these feet was the yellow heels. This represents indignation with the direction she’s taking. Knowing this person, it probably relates to the speed at which things are moving (or perceived lack there of) The heels are reasonable narrow showing focus in direction, yet board minded (wider across the ball of the foot.)
The insteps are pale showing that this person is giving more than she allows herself to receive. The outlines of angel wings show that she is being guided by the angelic realms.
The high insteps show an independent person.
The toes are long and straight. This person is confident, and is doing what she chooses. She has an ability to instil confidence in others.
In the past (right foot) there is a separation between the intellect toe (big toe) and the feeling toe (2nd toe) this show that she separated her emotions from her thoughts. They are coming together in the present (left foot) however she must take care not to give in to others way of thinking, if it does not hold true to her self.
The interesting part of these feet is that this person comes across as quite shy and timid. Her feet reflect she feels differently about herself. Some people take on traits and act in certain ways that they perceive are expected. This persona no longer serves her. It is time to step up and live her truth. I would recommend Clear quartz crystal for wisdom, liberation and learning.
If you would like your feet read on our newsletter, please send a feet photo similar to the one above and include a measurement of the soles of each foot, plus your body height. Please understand that by doing so you are giving permission for these photos to be used for educational purposes. No names will be used.
If you are interested in learning to read the feet or would like your feet read in more depth then you can book a Feet reading Harmony experience. We also have one day workshops available.

An integral facet of the Zoom Organic2go Health philosophy is not just selling a skin care product, but educating our clients in a holistic approach to life in order for them to attain optimum health & wellbeing. Our skin is our largest organ & represents our internal state - for optimal skin health we must also maintain our inner health.
The following are some tips on how to do this:- Water: drink at least 6 - 8 glasses per day.
- Nutrition for skin health: Nutrients, especially the antioxidants, Biotin, folic acid & zinc, consumed through diet assist the skin structure & function, albeit systematically. Eat plenty of fresh, enzyme rich fruits & vegetables, such as avocados, papayas, bananas, mangos & sprouts.
- Good circulation: To improve blood supply & enzymatic activity, several effective methods can be used, including regular exercise, facial massage & avoid smoking & alcohol.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure: Over time, excess sun exposure can result in decreased flexibility & elasticity, together with increased skin dryness & premature ageing.
- Adequate sleep: Get sufficient rest. Your face shows the first signs of fatigue & stress.
- Maintain a positive attitude: Particularly with the acne condition, a self-conscious body image will usually exacerbate the condition & cause emotional disturbance. Deep relaxation or meditation techniques may be beneficial to readjust the mental aspect.
- Seek Professional advice: For chronic, problematic skin conditions, we recommend that you make an appointment with our in-store Naturopath, qualified to assist in determining the cause of the problem & prescribing the appropriate medicine, nutrition & lifestyle changes.

Guidelines for Overcoming the Common Cold
Most of us experience the common cold once or twice a year with symptoms including sneezing, a runny and congested nose, a sore throat and generally feeling unwell. In more severe cases of the flu there may also be fever, fatigue, headache and generalised aches and pains.
These infections can be caused by a wide variety of viruses that infect the upper respiratory tract (your nose and throat). Many of the symptoms are the result of our body’s defence mechanisms, that is, our body’s methods of getting rid of the infection. Therefore it is best not to use “cold and flu remedies” from the pharmacy that simply suppress these symptoms. Although they may make you feel better in the short term and help you “soldier on” when you should be at home or in bed, they may prolong an infection or drive it deeper into the body by inhibiting the body’s natural mechanisms.
Once a cold develops, there are several things that can help speed recovery and prevent recurrent infections. So remember, the aim is to support the body in overcoming the infection as quickly as possible while strengthening the immune system and preventing recurrent infections:
REST
Getting enough rest and sleep is one of the most important factors in helping you overcome the common cold. During sleep, potent immune-enhancing compounds are released, and many immune functions are greatly increased.
These days many people feel guilty for taking days off work when they are sick. However taking one or two days off work to rest will not only help you recover more quickly, it will also prevent the spread of infection which will be better for the workplace in the long run. At the very least go to bed early and get as much sleep as possible.
CONSUME LIQUIDS
Drinking lots of fluids will increase your body’s ability to fight the infection by keeping the membranes that line the respiratory tract moist creating a less hospitable environment for viruses.
The types of fluids to consume are:
Purified water
Herbal teas such as – YEP tea (Yarrow, Elder & Peppermint), ginger tea. Hot water with slices of lemon and ˝ tea spoon of manuka honey 3-4 times per day. Lemon is a good source of vitamin C and also has antibacterial properties, Manuka honey has natural healing and immune enhancing properties – make sure to buy one that has a UMF (unique manuka factor) of at least 10+ for a therapeutic effect. Home made soups such as chicken broth and vegetable soup.
AVOID SUGAR
Sugar consumption even from natural sources such as fruit juices reduces the body’s ability to fight infection. During an infection maintain a healthy diet of steamed vegetables, rice, fish, chicken, soups and small amounts of fresh fruit (less concentrated sugar than juices).
VITAMIN C
Vitamin C is an important nutrient for immune function and your need for vitamin C increases during an infection. Supplementing with 500-1000mg of vitamin C every 2 hours, up to 6gms per day, has been shown to reduce the severity and duration of the common cold. (Decrease this dose if excessive gas or diarrhoea occurs).
ZINC LOZENGES
Zinc is another important nutrient for optimal immune function and your zinc requirements also increase during an infection. Zinc lozenges containing zinc gluconate can relieve a sore throat and also have direct antiviral activity.
HERBS - Echinacea, olive leaf extract, Andrographis.
These herbs have antiviral, antibacterial and immune enhancing properties. They are available in various over-the-counter formulas and forms (liquids, tablets, capsules) from your local health store. Used as directed they may reduce the duration of your cold particularly if taken at the earliest signs of infection. They may also reduce the incidence of secondary infections and recurrent infections.
If you seem to be catching everything that is going around, or if you have symptoms that last for weeks on end, or you just keep getting sick, then it may be that your immune system has become weakened. A variety of factors can contribute to a weakened immune system. A naturopath can identify these factors and devise a treatment plan to help get you back on track to a healthy immune system.
